Meg Lowman Ph.D. | Founder, MISSION GREEN
We, as a human species, are at a critical inflection point.
Approximately 50% of our tropical rainforests have been depleted by human hands. It will take thousands (not hundreds) of years to restore these ecosystems. We are on the verge of passing the tipping point of being able to restore them.

MISSION GREEN is a bold endeavor to promote global tree conservation, sustainable economic opportunity for local indigenous people, and continuous research and education. The goal is to stop global deforestation and protect our planet’s biodiversity.
MISSION GREEN represents the culmination of my life’s work and passion. It will now define my focus and contribution to science and the health of the world for the balance of my life and career! As a scientist and a parent, I want to take a stand to ensure that the next generation will inherit a healthy world in which to live.

Earth's Biodiversity resides in the canopy treetops, our "Eighth Continent"
Square miles of critical forestland lost to deforestation every year
$10M • 10 years • 10 Walkways in the highest biodiversity "Hot Spots" around the globe
Promote Research • Save Species • Sustain Indigenous People • Conserve Forests
TREE Foundation/Mission Green Initiative "Hot Spots"
12 Canopy Walkways in the world's most critical highest biodiversity rainforests
What is a "Hot Spot"?
A “Hot Spot” is a forest habitat of high biodiversity and critical environmental importance. Unfortunately, many of these ecosystems are threatened by habitat destruction, climate change, and other factors. MISSION GREEN believes that these areas could significantly benefit from a canopy walkway conservation program.

As Founder and CEO of Voiijer, Michael Barth is building the definitive operating system for human exploration—a social-first platform that empowers individuals and communities everywhere to explore, discover, and share their findings about the natural world. He is an accomplished entrepreneur and explorer with a distinctive record of leading innovation across education, technology, and the environment.
Through Voiijer, he is pioneering a new frontier where integrated XR, AI, and Web3 technologies are used to turn curiosity into discovery, and screen time into nature time. Under his leadership, Voiijer is on track to become the largest repository of user-generated environmental content and data, ultimately reconnecting people with the planet, advancing science through shared observation, and inspiring new generations of explorers.
Michael’s work spans continents, combining far-flung scientific expeditions with global initiatives. Earlier in his career, he spearheaded the development of Bhutan’s first law school and launched GNH Partners, the country’s first impact fund. He also founded “upublic” at Columbia University to advance global education and technology initiatives, and helped design the U.S. Department of Education’s first national online learning portal for adult education. A Fellow of both the Royal Geographical Society and The Explorers Club, Michael also founded The Explorers Club Hong Kong Chapter.
We are thrilled that he is joining our panel of scientific advisors and our Executive Director, CanopyMeg Lowman, is the Chair of his Scientific Board, so the cross-pollination of science, adventure and purpose will be a mutual benefit.
