In celebration of Earth Day 2026 (April 22), the TREE Foundation invited attendees to reconnect with the natural world through sound. In an increasingly urban, screen-filled world, the webinar explored how many of us overlook the subtle voices of nature all around us.
This unique event blended music, science, and storytelling. Participants heard from renowned canopy ecologist Meg Lowman, soundscape ecologist Bryan Pijanowski, and phytoacoustics & neuro-ecology researcher Yossi Yovel as they explored how sound reveals hidden dimensions of the natural world.
The program featured a live, nature-inspired trumpet performance, a preview of the Symphony for the Earth project, and recordings of plant-generated music and environmental soundscapes from Florida and beyond, including ultrasonic sounds produced by plants under stress.
Additional highlights included a musical performance by Aaron Kahn and a presentation by Rishik Yellu, a high school student mentored by Meg Lowman, whose photography and research are featured on the TREE Foundation Symphony page.
The event concluded with a discussion on “listening to nature,” exploring how technology and emerging ideas around plant intelligence can deepen our awareness and appreciation of the living world.
