On November 24, 2014 local families from Sarasota-Manatee VillageLearners gathered together at Myakka River State Park for a guided tour of the Canopy Walkway and Tower led by Dr. Margaret “CanopyMeg” Lowman. The children and their families learned about epiphytes, bromeliads, and the definition of “arbornaut”. The children were eager to ask questions, explore nature, learn about life in the trees, and climb to the top of the tower.
